Yeah, so the post title pretty much sums it up. Yesterday, the Atlas Sound record (Let the Blind Lead Those Who Can See But Cannot Feel) came out to much acclaim, but Kranky records failed to release it in more than one format. What gives? I'm positively dying to hear the Eno-esque titular closing track on warm vinyl, the needle coasting along the grooves casting transcendent soundwaves into my bedroom's airspace. Sounds good, right?
And it would make sense, too, don't you think? The Deerhunter Cryptograms/Flourescent Grey double LP is one of Kranky's best-sellers. The album's being well-recieved, and the CD sales probably won't be astronomical mostly because tha album leaked so far in advance. But, speaking on behalf of most music fans, and in particular on behalf of rabid Deerhunter/Atlas Sound fans, I know that I would gladly purchase the record on vinyl even though I have the mp3's at the ready in my American Apparel hoodie pocket.
With Castro in the news, it's time to join the revolutionary spirit. If you want to rally behind my idea, add a comment to this post.
